Abstract

804,818. Building blocks ; walls. SVENSKA INVARIT A. B. April 12, 1956, No. 11229/56. Classes 20(4) and 87(1) A building block comprises an outer layer 2 of asbestos cement fixed to a frame 3 consisting of layers of corrugated cardboard &c. at right angles to the layer 2, and an intemediate portion 4 consisting of corrugated cardboard &c. arranged parallel to the surface layer. A facing layer 5 of gypsum or asbestos cement may be secured to the opposite side of the frame, as in Fig. 1, or alternatively the insulating portions 3, 4 may be attached to a wall 7, Fig. 4, by means of expanding mortar &c. 6. Joints between adjacent blocks may be sealed by an element consisting of corrugated cardboard 8, Fig. 1, with an insulating layer 9 on one or both sides, the element being compressed for insertion behind the surface layer 2. Alternatively, the edge of the outer layer or layers may be bent inwardly as at 9, Fig. 4, to engage within the outer layer or layers of an adiacent block. In a further modification, Figs. 5 and 6 (not shown), the part 9 is a separate strip attached to the inner surface of the outer layer.
