Abstract

800,032. Copy-milling. ROLLS-ROYCE, Ltd. Dec. 23,1955 [Nov. 30,1954], No. 34732/54. Class 83 (3). [Also in Group XXXVIII] Apparatus for cutting a turbine blade from a template comprises a bracket C on a milling machine, movable in three mutually perpendicular directions along slides E, F, H by handwheels (not shown) and radially about a centre D. The bracket carries two master profiles MP1, MP2 co-operating with two probes P1, P2, the length of the spark-gaps SG1, SG2 being measured by meters M1, M2 and adjusted to be equal, when an associated milling tool J is correctly located with respect to a workpiece B for a horizontal cut. The part C is moved progressively vertically by small amounts, and further horizontal cuts made, the spark gaps being maintained equal after each movement.
