Abstract
798,952. Disc brakes. ROTOL, Ltd. Sept. 25, 1956 [Oct. 7, 1955], No. 28687/55. Class 103 (1). A spot type disc brake, which is applied to prevent rotation of the shaft 11 of an aircraft turbo-propeller propulsion unit, includes a plug element 44 of readily fusible material, such as a lead-tin alloy, which will melt at about 125- 150‹ C. and thus cause the brake pressure applied by fluid pressures acting on piston 67 to be relieved. This arrangement limits the overheating that may take place due to the brake being allowed to remain on during the starting of the engine or being accidentally applied during flight.
