Abstract

798,067. Boxes. AERONAUTICAL & GENERAL INSTRUMENTS, Ltd. Oct. 31, 1956 [Oct. 21, 1955], No. 30181/55. Class 18. The sides 4, 6 and 8 of a container are joined by fillers 10, and are cut back in the neighbourhood of the corners so that spaces 12, 14 and 16 are formed between the adjacent sides to take a resilient corner piece 20. The external surfaces of the sides are recessed so that tongues 18 are formed adjacent the spaces 12, 14 and 16. Moulded rubber corner-pieces, see Fig. 2, comprise mutually perpendicular arms 20, 22 and 24 adapted to fit in the spaces 12, 14 and 16, each arm being provided on each side with projections 26 and 28 which engage above and below the tongues 18. In a modification, Fig. 3 (not shown), the sides forming the corner, instead of overlapping as shown in Fig. 1, fit into and are joined by a rubber fillet having a curved outer surface. According to the Provisional Specification, projections on the inside of the rubber fillet are provided with rolled steel strips having one edge fitting into a groove in the container side, both side and rubber fillet being secured by a self-tapping screw through the steel strip ; a seating for the lid comprising wooden beading and a rolled steel channel portion, sealed with a water-tight string, is also provided.
