Abstract
797,472. Blasting fuzes. ETABLISSEMENTS REY FRERES. June 28, 1956 [July 8, 1955], No. 20091/56. Class 9(1) A detonating fuze cord is provided comprising two separate parallel cords enclosed in a common casing. In Fig. 1 each component cord has a core 1 of penthrite in a conventional casing 3, e.g. guttapercha, the two cords being held together by the casing 2, which may be moulded of plastic material by passing the two cords through an extrusion press. The cords may be contiguous as in Fig. 1 or spaced apart as in Fig. 4. Electrically conducting wires 5, 6 for connection to an electric igniter may be embedded in the casing 2. The igniter may be attached to one only of the component cords, the casing 2 being first cut away. Alternatively the inner half of each cord may be cut out over the necessary length and the outer halves joined together to form a single cord, which is connected to the igniter or detonator cap.
