Abstract

794,835. Storing liquefied gases. BRITISH OXYGEN CO., Ltd. July 5, 1956 [July 7, 1955], No. 19717/55. Class 8(2). A liquefied gas, e.g., oxygen container 10 is supported within a surrounding evacuated vessel 11 spaced therefrom by spring buffers 12 at least some of which are secured at one end but are free at the other end to move relatively to the inner or outer vessel. The inner ends of the springs 12 may bear against the outer wall of the vessel 10 or against spigots projecting therefrom, and the outer ends may be screwed or soldered to spigots projecting inwardly or outwardly of the wall of the vessel 11. The springs are of metal, e.g., steel or plastic material having good outgassing properties.
