793,803. Hydraulic pit proos. MASTABAR MINING EQUIPMENT CO., Ltd., [formerly MASTABAR BELT FASTENER CO., Ltd.]. June 7, 1856 [June 10, 1955], No. 16827/55. Class 20(2) [Also in Group XXIX] The spring pressure relief valve of an hydraulic pit prop is adapted to open at pressures increasing with the load on the pit prop. In Fig. 1 the relief valve 57 is maintained closed by an arm 62 on a torsion bar spring 61 the torsion of which is increased by a cam on the end of a bar 73, moved upwards by a connection 74 to the lower prop part 14 as the prop collapses under load. In a modification the relief value 83, Fig. 4, is held closed by a spring 84 attached to a piston 81 in the upper prop part 11. As liquid escapes from the prop pressure chamber, on increase of load, through the valve 83 to the reservoir space 82 in the part 11 it raises the piston 81 and increases the tension of the spring. In a modification of this construction the spring is above the piston 81 acting as a compression 'spring to force the valve 83 down on to its seat.
