793,347. Feeding webs; sheet cutting and delivery apparatus. KUNSTZIJDESPINNERIJ NYMA N.V., [formerly NAAMLOOZE VENNOOTSCHAP KUNSTZIJDESPINNERIJ NYMA]. Sept. 21, 1956, [Sept. 22, 1955]. No. 28953/56. Addition to 768,325. Class 100(1). [Also in Group XXIV] Apparatus as claimed in the parent Specification comprises a one-way clutch and eccentric means in the transmission to the means for advancing the material to be cut and stacked, which clutch and eceentric means serve in operation to provide an intermittent advance of the material. Feeding webs. The material 1 to be cut and stacked is fed on continuously driven rollers 2, 3, 4 (Fig. 1) and jockey rollers 5 and 6 movable in a vertical plane to take up variations in length due to the subsequent intermittent feed of the web. After passing over a roller 7 the web is fed by rollers 8, 9 and 10 to the cutting apparatus. The roller 8 is mounted on shaft 11 to which is fast a gear 12 meshing with a gear 13 on a shaft 14. A continuously rotating drive shaft 23 is provided with a gear 24 which drives a gear 25 fast on a shaft 26 on which is mounted an eccentric device 16 (see Group XXIV) having an eccentric pin 29 (Fig. 3). The pin 29 is connected to one end of a chain 15a the other end of which is connected to a spring 15b and the intermediate portion of which passes over a chain-wheel 15c connected by a shaft to a one-way clutch 15 also connected to the shaft 14. The arrangement is such that as the pin 29 moves through the path A B C the shaft 14 rotates whereas as the pin 29 moves through the path C D A the shaft 14 remains stationary. The amount of rotation of the shaft 14 and therefore the length of web 1 severed depends upon the eccentricity of the pin 29. The feed rollers 8, 9 and 10 are reciprocated axially so that alternate cut lengths of web are displaced to the right and left respectively. To this end a cam 44 is provided on an eccentric disc 17 fixed on the continuously rotating drive shaft 23. The cam 44 has a raised portion a and a depressed portion c cooperating with a cam follower 43 connected to the shaft 11 of the roller 8. Thus as the cam follower 43 rides on to the portion a of the cam 44 the rollers 8, 9, 10 are moved to the right and as the follower 43 rides on to the portion c the rollers are moved to the left by means of a spring 45. Sheet cutting and delivery apparatus. The web 1 is cut and stacked by means of a fixed blade 21 and a reciprocating blade 19 to which is attached a pusher element 20 for reciprocation with the blade 19. The pile is formed between a table 22 and the undersurface of the fixed blade 21. The movable blade 19 is reciprocated through a linkage culminating in a cam follower which rides on the periphery of the eccentric disc 17 which latter is provided with raised portions 18.
