Abstract

792,019. X-ray tubes. RAJEWSKY, B. Sept. 23, 1955 [Sept. 25, 1954], No. 27192/55. Class 39(1). The anode of an X-ray tube is concave with respect to the irradiation space, which it surrounds at least in part, and into which space the X-rays pass through the anode. In Fig. 2, the anode is a cylinder 1, forming with an inner cylinder 2 a conduit for cooling fluid 3. The spiral cathode filament 4 surrounds the anode, and the X-rays pass through into the central irradiation space 8. A screen 5 may surround the cathode, and may be more negative. The anode may be a half cylinder only, and two such tubes may be put together to enclose the space 8 completely, Figs. 4 and 5 (not shown). Such anodes may be extended to any desired length, and objects may be passed through the irradiation space continuously. The anode may alternatively be formed as a dome enclosing the space 8, as in Fig. 6.
