Abstract

791,056. Elongated lighting fittings. BRITISH THOMSON-HOUSTON CO., Ltd. Jan. 10, 1956 [Jan. 10, 1955], No. 727/55. Class 75(4) An elongated lighting fitting comprises a channel member 1 accommodating cables, chokes, capacitors and having a horizontal bottom 3 with a longitudinal slot 6 therein, and a reflector 11 detachably secured to the channel member by interengaging projections 16. 17 and recesses 14, 15 and having a top opening which is wider than the slot 6 and is closed by the channel bottom 3. The recesses 14, 15 are formed in horizontal extensions of the channel bottom 3 and the projections 16,.17 are hooks formed on the reflector. The longitudinal slot 6 has upstanding flanges 4, 5 and may be covered by a plate. The channel member 1 may be corrugated and have a mirror surface for reflecting light downwards. Slots 29 in the reflector 11 provide upward illumination. In another construction the bottom 3 is formed by a slotted plate secured by screws to inturned flanges on the channel member: In still another construction the lower parts of the sidewalls of the channel member 1 are inturned and disposed parallel to and spaced from the bottom 3. The bottom 3 may be of louvre construction and be made of transparent material. The fitting may be made of opaque or transparent material. Specification 718,958 [Group XXV] is referred to.
