Abstract
790,556. Rotatable grates. COMPAGNIE GENERALE DE CONSTRUCTION DE FOURS. March 24, 1955 [March 25, 1954], No. 8617/55. Class 51 (1). A rotatable cylindrical grate having a clinker trough has an adjustable false bottom fitted in the trough whereby the depth and volume of the trough may be adjusted. The grate shown in Figs. 2, 3, comprises a cast body 4, 4, having end cheeks 6, 6, and an air inlet pipe 5 in the form of a trunnion, rotatable within a seating 8, 8. The grate surface comprises one or more detachable elements 9, 9 and an adjustable false bottom 12 separates air box 10 and clinker trough 11. In order that a block of clinker may be cut on rotation of the grate the body 4, 4 has blades 14 whilst co-operating blades 15 are provided between a waterjacket 16 and the seating 8, 8. A seal is provided between each cheek 6 and its associated seat member 8<SP>1</SP>. A groove 17 in each seat member accommodates a packing ring 18. Each ring is pressed against its associated grate end by a series of spring-loaded pushers 19, Fig. 5 (not shown), and has a groove 20, Fig. 4, which receives blast air through a pipe 21 connected to the main air blast pipe 22 of the grate upstream of a valve 23. The air issues from each groove 20 through orifices 24.
