Abstract

789,393. Reciprocating pumps. GURNEY, M. T., GURNEY, R. A., and GURNEY, E. H., [trading as GURNEY'S ELECTRICAL CO.]. June 17, 1955, No. 17615/55. Class 102(1). A pump for insertion into a container comprises a column 2, having a device 37 for securing it in the container opening, carrying at one end a cylinder 1 having an inlet valve 5 and a piston 23 having a bucket valve 25 delivering through a piston rod 11 closed at the top end and having a nipple 28 connected to a flexible pipe 18 the other end being connected to an inlet 14 in a head 9 secured to the top end of the column 2. Liquid from the inlet 14 fills a reservoir 29 and passes through a filter 41 to an outlet 17. The reservoir 29 may be screwed or clamped to the head 9. A guard ring 35 secured to the column 2 surrounds the reservoir. The rod 11 is reciprocated by a lever 22 pivoted on the head 9 at 21 and passing through a ring 27 on the rod. In a modification two nipples on the rod 11 are connected by flexible pipes to the inlet 14.
