Abstract
789,127. Sink and float separation. SIMON-CARVES, Ltd. Feb. 13, 1956 [April 25, 1955], No. 11837/55. Class 82(2) A sink and float coal or ore washing plant comprises a spraying a dewatering scrreen combined with a dilute medium screen in the form of a double deck screen, such a double deck screen being provided for each product of separation or a single partitioned double deck screen being provided for two such products. As shown the floats and sinks are transformed to separate double deck screens 5, 6 and 18, 19 respectively, the apertures of the bottom decks 6, 19 being finer than those of the top decks 5, 18 so as to retain fine coal, fine shale and slimes. The material leaving the lower deck 6 may be discarded or mixed with the floats, whilst that leaving the lower deck 19 is generally discarded. In modifications, (i) the drainage section of the screens above the correct medium vessels 3, 15 may be omitted and the products drained previously, (ii) the lower decks 6, 19 may extend only over the dilute medium vessels 4, 16, and (iii) the mesh of those sections of the lower decks 6, 19 above the vessels 3, 15 may differ from that of the sections above the vessels 4, 16.
