In a kitchen machine which is provided with a high-speed drive coupling direct from the motor in a casing 6 and a low-speed drive coupling driven by a V-belt 7 from the motor so that a desired kitchen machine can be placed. over its appropriate coupling, the internal motor housing 6 and the other internal drive housing 5 are joined together by bolts 10 in lugs 8 and 9, and one or both of the housings 5 and 6 is resiliently clamped within the base 1-2 to minimize vibration. The motor drives the slower coupling through a V-belt 7. The lugs, e.g. 11 of the inner housings are clamped between rubber &c. insulating blocks 12 mounted in bores 13 in the base parts 1 and 2, the base parts then being clamped together by screws 4. The base parts may be made of synthetic plastic in which case threaded metal bushes 17 are embedded therein to receive the screws.
