A lubricating system comprises a block 2 with two cylindrical spaces 3, 5 containing, respectively, a reversing piston 1 and a preselector piston 4, each having three narrowed portions, the spaces communicating with conduits associated with a plurality of distributers V1, V2, V3, lubricant being pumped through an inlet 13 and, under the control of the pistons, being fed alternately through conduits 17, 19 to the distributers. The narrowed portions of the pistons form chambers which communicate with lubricating points through conduits 20, 21, 25, 26. Lubricant supplied through inlet 13 and conduit 15 forces piston 1 to the right so that lubricant is forced out of conduits 24, 25 to a lubricating point. Lubricant also passes through conduits 14, 17 and forces each piston of the distributers successively to the left. This results in the supply of lubricant in turn to a lubricating point through conduits 19, 20, to a lubricating point through conduits 28, 29, and to a lubricating point through conduits 30, 31. Also lubricant from the right-hand side of the piston in distributer V3 passes through conduit 139 to operate the preselector piston 4 whereby lubricant passes by conduit 140 and conduit 141 to a lubricating point and whereby also inlet 13 communicates by conduit 24 with the right-hand end face of the piston 1. Piston 1 is then reversed so that lubricant is forced through conduits 15, 21 to a lubricating point. At the same time inlet 13 is put into communication with conduit 19 whereby the distributers are reversed, resulting in further supply of lubricant to lubricating points. The distributers are then reversed again to commence a new cycle.
