Abstract
1,107,335. Lubricators; valves. HOTJDAILLE INDUSTRIES Inc. 4 May, 1965, No. 18772/65. Headings ,F2A and F2V. In lubricant distributor cyclically metering pressurized lubricant from an inlet to a number of outlets, a distributer-body comprises end blocks unitsi 17, 21 with block units 18, 19 and 20 therebetween; each of the intermediate block units has a bore 27 with a plunger 28 therein, a pair of outlets 79, 80 and an inlet 52, the land positions on the plunger 28 being dimensioned so that the inlets 52 are initially uncovered only when the plunger is spaced from one of the limiting end positions of the bore 27 at a distance less than 15% of the full stroke of the plunger. The limiting of the stroke of the plunger is effected by means of plugs 31 which are screwed into each end of an intermediate unit 18, 19 or 20 and the varying of the stroke of the plunger is possible by varying the. lengths of the plugs or by. varying the lengths of end portions 25 of the.plungers. Each plunger is provided with end lands 36, 37 which control transfer ports 66, 67 and 68, 69 respectively; and is provided with an intermediate land 38 which controls the inlet 52. In use, lubricant supplied through the inlet 52 of the intermediate unit, 18, for example, will enter a portion of the bore 27 which is between the lands 37 and 38 of the plunger 28 and will be conveyed upwardly through a connecting passageway 58 to the transfer port 68, through a cross-over passageway 73 to a two-way passageway 53 of the intermediate unit 20, from whence it will enter a chamber 43 thereof. The build-up of pressure in the chamber 43 will cause the plunger 28 of the unit 20 to move to the right, thus forcing lubricant from a chamber 44 of the unit 20 through a two-way passage 54, through a cross-over passageway 70 to a connecting passageway 57 of the unit 18, into the portion of the bore 27 which is between the lands 36, 38 of the unit 18, through a passage 56 of the unit 18 and then downwardly through a branch passageway 81 to an outlet passageway 79 of the unit 20, which connects to the point requiring to be lubricated. The movement of the plunger 28 to the right in the unit 20 allows the port 52 therein to be uncovered and the pressurized lubricant is conveyed to a portion of the bore 27 which is between the lands 36, 38, the lubricant is then conveyed to the passageway 57 which connects with the two-way passageway 53 of the unit 19. The pressurized lubricant then fills a chamber 43 of the unit 19 and causes the plunger 28 to move to the right, thus forcing lubricant from the chamber 44 of the unit 19 through the two-way passageway 54 of the unit 19, through the connecting passageway 58 of unit 20, through the portion of the bore 27 which is between the lands 37, 38, through a passageway 59 of unit 20, and through an outlet passageway 80 of unit 19 to its respective outlet which connects to the point requiring to be lubricated. The respective outlets 79, 80 of all the intermediate block units 18, 19 and 20 are similarly supplied with lubricant. In modifications, the inlets 52 may be square shaped or may be connected to an annular passage in the bore 27.
