Abstract
787,048. Aerials. SIHN, W. Feb. 2, 1956 [Feb. 4, 1955], No. 3302/56. Class 40 (7). An adjustable multi-section telescopic car aerial is so constructed that the antenna assembly together with the flexible adjusting rod can be removed (e.g. for cleaning) and reassembled on the vehicle again entirely from outside the body of the vehicle. The aerial elements may comprise three sections 2, 3 and 4, assembled with a support sleeve 11 and held in place therein by collar 15. A flexible nylon rod or like operating cable 10 extends through the sections and out through the bottom of sleeve 11. The units so far described are those which can be readily removed. The body of the vehicle is provided with an aerial support arrangement comprising a base member 8 from which extends a mounting sleeve 6 carrying semi-spherical mounting members 16 and 18 fitting either side of the aperture in the vehicle body through which the sleeve 6 passes. The members 16 and 18 are held in place by a threaded collar above the vehicle body. The mounting sleeve 11 carrying the aerial can be assembled into the sleeve 6 from the outside and held in place by the screw cap 5. The free end of the operating rod 10 is tapered and can be drawn through the friction grip actuating device be suitable operation thereof. Rollers 23 maintain the rod 10 gripped by the resilient flanges 24 of the operating drive wheel 22 and the free end of the rod passes into tube 25. The aerial lead-in may be connected to the aerial by a connecting bolt provided in base member 8. Specification 743,610 is referred to.
