A rotary duplicating-machine for printing three or more text portions from a duplicating master sheet on to a copy sheet in closer space relationship than, that of the portions on the master sheet, comprises a rotatable printing drum 1, a rotatable impression roller 5 for effecting printing contact between the copy sheet 24 and the duplicating master sheet 2 when attached to the printing drum, the impression roller being movable towards and away from the printing drum to press the copy sheet against the master sheet and to release it from pressing against the master sheet, and a plurality of cams forming at least three assemblies, each adjustable in accordance with the portions of the text on the master sheet to be printed and controlling the movements of the impression roller towards and away from the printing drum during each complete revolution thereof, the arrangement being such that during each complete revolution of the printing drum the impression roller is, due to said assemblies acting in succession, at least three times moved towards the printing drum under the control of the cams. As shown, the master sheet 2, Fig. 1, is attached to a printing drum 1 by a clamping device 3, while the impression roller 5 is pivotally mounted on a shaft 4. The roller 5 is rocked towards and away from the drum 1 by a toggle joint 21, 22, 23 actuated by a lever 20 rocked by cam followers 18 on a shaft 19. The sharft 19 is also rocked by cam, followers 16 and 17, Fig. 5, having rollers 16<SP>1</SP>, 17<SP>1</SP> respectively which engage assemblies of cams 8<SP>1</SP>, 8<SP>2</SP>, 8<SP>3</SP> and 9', 9<SP>2</SP>. 9<SP>3</SP>, 9<SP>4</SP> respectively on a shaft 6. The followed 18 has a roller 18<SP>1</SP> engaging the cam discs 10<SP>1</SP>, 10<SP>2</SP>, 10<SP>3</SP> on the shaft 6, driven through pinions 13, 14 and 15, Fig. 1, from the printing drum 1. A cam 7, Fig. 5, for controlling the impression roller during the printing of a heading, and a cam 11 which ensures uninterrupted contact of the impression roller 5 with the drum 1 for printing the whole of the text on the master sheet are also mounted on the shaft 6. The assemblies of cams 9<SP>1</SP>, 9<SP>2</SP>, 9<SP>3</SP>, 9<SP>4</SP> and 10<SP>1</SP>, 10<SP>2</SP>, 10<SP>3</SP> are axially adjustable along the shaft 6 to effect printing of one, two, or three lines of text on the master sheet and angularly adjustable by pawls 29, 30 and 31, 32 respectively and spring- loaded ratches, not shown, to permit the raised portions of the cams being advanced by one, two or three lines as required. The assembly of cams 8<SP>1</SP>, 8<SP>2</SP>, 8<SP>3</SP>, together with the cam 11, are axially adjustable on the shaft 6. Specification 735,181 is referred to.
