Abstract
483,403. Copying documents. FORD, F. R. Jan. 15, 1937, No. 1198. [Class 100 (ii)] Relates to rotary duplicators of the type described in Specification 384,771, wherein moistened copy sheets are fed between an impression roller 40 and a cylinder 3 to which the leading edge of a mirror-script original is secured, for instance by a clamp 5 as described in Specification 447,184, and wherein the moment at which a copy sheet should be fed is indicated at each revolution of the cylinder 3 which is driven through a connection permitting angular adjustment whereby the heading space may be varied by varying the position of attachment of the original in relation to the nip between the members 3, 40, and consists in a driving connection comprising an arm 24 fixed to the driving-means and carrying a pin 25 adapted to be engaged with any one of a series of holes 26 in the end of the cylinder. The arm 24 is fixed to a gear 7 secured to a shaft 6 on which the cylinder 3 is rotatably mounted. Adjustment is effected by pressing a knob 30 whereby a plunger 27 is caused to push the cylinder axially to disengage the connection. The machine shown has (1) damping-mechanism similar to that described in Specification 440,334 comprising a roller 16 which is lowered to press the copy sheets against a damping-pad 13, or mechanism in which the pad is moved, and (2) a device for arresting the cylinder 3 comprising a detent roller 36 mounted on the end of a resilient arm 33 and pressed by a spring 38 towards a recess 31 in a collar 19 rigid with the cylinder. Each of these devices (1) and (2) indicates the moment at which a sheet should be fed.
