Abstract
784,074. Sortingsolid materials. NATIONAL RESEARCH DEVELOPMENT CORPORATION. Oct. 26, 1955 [Nov. 8, 1954], No. 34537/56. Divided out of 784,073 [Group XXX]. Class 117 A wheeled potato harvester is hauled by a tractor and potatoes together with large stones and clods of earth are fed into an elevating drum 17 of the kind described in Specification 784,073 [Group XXX], where some separation of smaller stones &c. takes place, and the potatoes, larger stones &c are delivered by the drum on to a rotary sorting table 25 and are carried round in front of sorters. The sorters select the potatoes and deposit them on to an annular shelf 37 rotating with the table, and a deflector 42 feeds the potatoes into a bagging-off shoot 43. Waste material is swept off the table by a fixed deflector 40 and into a shoot 41. When the receptacle underneath the shoot 43 is full a deflector 44 is swung into position to feed the potatoes to a second shoot 46. A fixed frustoconical shoot 38 surrounds the shelf 37. The table is driven about a shaft 28 and consists of a canvas sheet 26 attached to a framework 27 and kept taut by springs 34 connected between the sheet and radial bolts 33 attached to a cup-shaped member 32. A frusto-conical shield 36 surrounds the inner edge of the sheet. Specification 747,647 also is referred to.
