Abstract
741,828. Cutting grass &c. crops. WILDER, Ltd., J. Dec. 8, 1953 [Dec. 9, 1952], No. 31132/52. Class 5 (1). [Also in Group XXX] Green crops, straw &c. are picked up from the ground by rotary tines 2 and are fed between the tines and a roller 3 of a conveyer belt 5 or a curved plate to a rotary chopper 6. The roller 1 carrying the tines 2 is freely suspended as in Specification 719,456 to swing and so automatically vary the width of the mouth A in accordance with the amount of crop picked up. Alternatively the other side of the mouth A may be movable. The tines 2 are retractable within the roller 1 and are rotated from the ground wheels of a trailer, the blades 7 of the rotary chopper being driven from the engine 4 of a tractor, and co-operate with a curved plate 8 which may have fixed blades. The chopper blades 7 throw up the cut material between elevating and conveying belts 3 and 5a to a receiver or the chopper may throw the chopped material back on to the ground.
