783,793. Photographic diffusion-transfer process. GEVAERT PHOTO-PRODUCTEN N.V. Dec. 30, 1955 [Jan. 3, 1955], No. 54/55. Class 98(2) Dihydropyrimidine derivatives of formulawhere R,=H, NH 2 or NH-alkyl; R,=alkyl, aryl or mixed alkyl-aryl; and R 3' R 4 =H, alkyl, aryl or mixed alkyl-aryl are added to the silver halide emulsion layer or protective coating therefor, or to the receiving layer or developing solution, or more than one of these, to produce a black positive image in the receiving layer. In five examples using gelatine silver chloride emulsions sensitized to 360-590 mm. the pyrimidines present therein or in a carboxymethyl cellulose protective coating thereon are 2-mercapto-4, 6, 6 - trimethyl-3, 6 - dehydropyrimidine and the 3 amino and 3 - methyl amino substitution products thereof and 2 - mercapto - 3 - amino - 4 - phenyl - 6, 6 - dimethyl - 3, 6 -, dehydropyrimidine, the preparations of which are indicated; colloidal silver is used in the receiving layer and processing in a specified developer proceeds normally.
