Abstract
781,847. Injectors. SPECIALTIES DEVELOPMENT CORPORATION. March 13, 1956 [May 10, 1955], No. 7789/56. Class 71. A compressed air actuated injector suitable for inflating a pneumatic jack comprises a venturi tube 11, 14, 12 having a pivoted closure disc 27 engaging a seat 15 surrounding the throat 14 on the downstream side thereof and openable towards the divergent portion 12 of the venturi, and a compressed air supply orifice 49 in a nozzle head 47 in the convergent portion 11. The pivoted disc 27 is opened against a spring 38 by a compressed air actuated piston 41 linked thereto by engagement of a slotted nut 44 with a pin 46 extending between legs 32 of a bracket 29 hinged about a pin 34 secured to the injector casing. The piston 41 is supplied with compressed air through a flexible hose 55 connected to the main compressed air inlet 51. On discontinuing the supply of conpressed air the piston chamber is vented to atmosphere through the hose 55 and orifice 49, and the disc 27 is closed by its spring thus trapping air in the venturi portion 12. Reopening of the disc 27 is effected by an external handle 37, Fig. 2 (not shown) to allow deflation of the jack cylinder.
