Abstract
778,579. Cable-end sleeves. PIRELLI SOC. PER AZIONI. March 27, 1956 [July 8, 1955], No. 9500/56. Class 36. A sealing end for a hightension cable, especially wherein the external insulator 3 is conical and which is suitable for insertion in an inverted position, comprises an insulating sleeve 2 fitted on the cable core 1 and an insulating support 9 shaped as a truncated cone. The support may be formed in one piece or in several portions held together by a binding of insulating material, may be perforated to allow passage of impregnating fluid and may be made of a thermosetting resin, preferably of the ethoxylinic or epoxy types, porous insulating material such as paper, glass fabric, silk, cotton or asbestos impregnated with a thermosetting resin, impregnated cardboard, porcelain or glass. The lower end of the support may rest. on or be integral with a cylinder 12 of the same material surrounding the cable core 1 and which may contain a stress-control ring 11, for example as described in Specification 755,374, which is electrically connected to the cable conductor.
