Abstract
612,061. Electric insulators. SCARPA, G. May 16, 1946, No. 14881. Convention date, Nov. 16, 1945. [Class 36] A lead-in insulator for high voltage transformers in which the part intended to penetrate the interior of the transformer casing does not present uncovered metallic parts, has a conduit with walls of insulating material for the passage of the insulated end of the transformer winding. The. insulator 1 is provided with a metal armature 2 to fix to the transformer casing and with a metallic cap c connected to the line at 3. A metallic tube 4 is arranged within the hollow centre of the insulator and makes electrical connection with the line, but does not extend into the lower portion 5 of the insulator. The insulated end 6 of the transformer winding passes into the cavity 5 and is connected, through the flexible conductor 7, with the terminal 8. The insulator may be constructed to contain a series of metallic tubes for the purpose of distributing electric potential.
