Abstract
777,902. Steering vehicles. BAYERISCHE MOTOREN WERKE AKT.-GES. Sept. 1, 1955 [Sept. 1, 1954], No. 25112/55. Class 79(5). [Also in Group XXXII] In a motor vehicle front wheel suspension, a wheel carrier 1 which is rotatable about its longitudinal axis and is upwardly extended preferably beyond the wheel diameter, is connected to the vehicle frame 5 at its upper end by means of a pivotable longitudinal link 4 swinging parallel with or obliquely to the longitudinal centre line of the vehicle and at its lower end by means of a pivotable transverse link 2 and a steering lever (not shown) is rigidly attached to the wheel carrier between the ends thereof, the free end of the steering lever being connected to one end of a two part track rod and its arc of movement or springing movement of the wheel carrier corresponding substantially to the arc of movement of the outer end of the two-part track rod. As shown, a coil spring 7 is disposed between the carrier 1 with which it is coaxial, and a.lug 6 projecting from-the vehicle frame 5. In another arrangement, Fig. 4 (not shown), the coil spring is disposed between the lower link and a lug on an adjacent frame member.
