Abstract
776,594. Manifolding appliances. BURGMER, J. Nov. 16, 1955 [Nov. 19, 1954], No. 32720/55. Class 16. A chain of writing blocks comprises a continuous feed band 7 and writing blocks arranged following one another in the longitudinal direction on the feed band, each block comprising a set of writing sheets 1, 2a, 2b, 2c interleaved with sheets 3a, 3b, 3c of carbon paper and having a head strip 4 holding the sheets together and an attachment strip 6 on the head strip 4 which is stuck to the feed band 7 to secure the block in position. As shown, the attachment strip 6 is formed by an extension of the top sheet 1 and has perforations 9 to register with perforations. 10 on the feed band 7. The carbon sheets 3a, 3b, 3c are shorter than the sheets 1, 2a, 2b, 2c and the strip 6 is secured to the band 7 under the rear edge part 8 of the next block so that there is no thicker part over the area of attachment. The feed band 7 may have feed perforations 12 along each edge and several rows of writing blocks, as 13 and 14, may be arranged side by side. The leading end of the band 7 preferably carries no blocks and assists in introducing the chain into a writing machine. The writing sheets 1, 2a, 2b, 2c are provided with rear-off perforations 5 adjacent the head strip 4 and the sheets may be separated by pulling on the rear edge part 8.
