Abstract
775,019. Counting-apparatus. KOLLSMAN INSTRUMENT CORPORATION. May 7, 1954 [Jan. 13, 1954], No. 13393/54. Class 106 (1). In a counter having a plurality of orders, a drum or wheel forms the indicator in one order and an endless tape forms the indicator in the next higher order, The invention is described as applied to a counter for registering angular measurements, e.g. azimuth measurements. The housing 10, Fig. 2, comprises two parts 12, 14 secured together by bolts 16 and has a viewing window. The first order drum 26, Fig. 4, on a shaft 24 is driven from the input shaft 20 through gears 30, 32, Fig. 9, and is connected to the second order drum 28 through Geneva-type transfer mechanism 34, 38, 42, 44. In the third and highest order the indicator is formed by an endless tape 46 which passes over a guide 62, and is fed by mechanism comprising sprocket wheels 54, 56 having drive gears 82, 84 connected through a gear 80 to Geneva-type transfer mechanism 72, 66, 78 actuated by the second order drum 28.
