774,857. Separating dust from gases. AKTIEBOLAGET LINDEROTHS PATENTER. Sept. 19, R955, No. 26727/55. Class 8(2) In an apparatus for separating dust from gas, e.g. air by concentrating the dust in a convergent duct bounded by grids 2a, 2b, Fig. 1, formed by spaced strips 1a, 1b or by a grid 2, Fig. 2, and an imperforate guide surface 6; and wherein substantially clean air escapes through the slots and dust-concentrated air is discharged at the narrow end c of the duct, the sides of the strips or/and of the guide plate against which the incoming air impinges is at least partly covered with a soft yieldable material, e.g. rubber or plastic. The strips 1a, 1b are them- .selves formed from soft plastic or rubber as are strips 1, and are so thin as to vibrate and prevent accumulation of dust thereon. The guiding surface 6 has dimples 8 serving to space a rubber lining 7. The cushioning effect so produced on the impinging dust particles absorbs kinetic energy and reduces the chances of rebound through the spaces between the strips. In a modification a corrugated apertured screen of curved form is coated with soft rubber or plastic and is spaced from a similarly curved guiding surface lined with rubber.
