Abstract

774,208. Two-part couplings. D. S. PLUGS, Ltd. Aug. 4,1955 [Aug. 10, 1954], No. 23152/54. Class 38 (1). [Also in Group XXXVII] A combined switch and switched socketoutlet suitable for controlling a cooker and toaster, respectively, has the switch and socket mounted at opposite ends of a base 11 and interconnected by strips 15 one on each side of a centre rib 13 and each extending into a depression 14 so as to underlie a U-shaped socket 18. The base is grooved to receive a rod 23 carrying a cam 26 for each strip, the rod being operable by a dolly 25 so as to depress each strip against the action of a reinforcing strip 21 so as to separate contacts on the strip and socket. The switch dolly 35 carries a bifurcated cam 36 operating on two movable strip contacts 28 against the action of springs 33. The contacts 28 are each held by a rivet 29 and spring 30 against a terminal strip 28 secured to, and forming an extension of, strip 15. The device may be adapted to flush or surface fitting, and the several switch contacts may be silvered.
