Abstract

772,630. Calculating-apparatus. ALPINA BUSOMASCHINENWERK GES. Dec. 13, 1954, No. 35997/54. Class 106 (1). [Also in Group XVI] Denominational tabulating in a typewriter or accounting machine is effected by an additional movement to a group of key-levers which also effect type-actions. This movement is made by the thumb to slide the required key backwards as indicated by the arrow A, Fig. 4. The key lever 1 slides on its spindle 4, against the pull of a return spring 7, and an end part 6, through cranks and linkage 12-21, raises a denominational stop 22 into the path of a tabulation stop 45 on the carriage 44, 39 of the machine. At the same time, the key lever 1 engages a plate 29 which extends across the machine and pivots a tripping arm 30 which, by axially sliding a gear 33 against a spring 36, causes the gear to disengage from a carriage rack 39 and a gear-wheel 37, so that the carriag is released. An over-riding tabulation key 46 used for skip tabulating also releases the carriage by pivoting the plate 29 through a link 49 slottedly attached at 48. The tabulation keys are marked on the front vertical face 27 of the key-buttons or on the space-bar 50 immediately in front of them.
