Abstract
772,626. Loose leaf binders. BROADHURST, C. J. Aug. 12, 1955 [Sept. 14, 1954], No. 26632/54. Class 146(1). A loose leaf binder, in which laces or cords pass through the sheets and are secured by fastening means in conjunction with the lace system, has a lifter bar with two posts engaging with the binder and forming extra mountings for the sheets which are spaced from the two laces. The spine 12 of the binder 10, 11 is provided with wings 13, 14 and a lace 15 passes through eyelets 16, 17 in the wings and is clamped by spiral springs 18 on the top wing 14. The lifter bar 19 has spaced posts 20 which seat on eyelets 21 on the rear wing 13 and has perforations to coincide with the eyelets 17, the lace 15 and posts 20 passing through separate perforations in the sheets to be bound. Sleeves or tubes may be provided for the lace 15 to pass through between the wings 13, 14 and such sleeves may be anchored rigidly or flexibly to the back cover 10. The wing 13 may be dispensed with, the eyelets 16, 21 being in a narrow strip of the rear cover 10 which is hinged to the rest of the cover.
