Class 145 A wooden panel is formed of planks 1 connected together at each end by a transverse U- or channel-section strip 2 secured to the planks by screws 4 which pass through slots 5 in the ends of some or all of the planks; at one or both ends, to engage plugs 3 of hard wood or other suitable material. The slots allow movement of the screws owing to expansion or contraction of the planks, without weakening the joint.
