Abstract

770,735. Hats. SPREIREGEN, J. June 7, 1955, No. 16322/55. Class 63. A one-piece cap comprises a single piece of fabric, e.g. wool, knitted, shrunk, felted and formed to substantially oval or circular shape in plan, the fabric being doubled inwardly upon itself along an arc near its periphery and the doubled portions being secured together to form a crease 10, Fig. 3, which divides an upper crown portion 11 from a lower peaklike portion 12. Within the cap a narrow crescent-shaped stiffener 13, e.g. buckram, is secured to the peak portion 12 by stitching 14. The doubled portions are secured together by a single line of stitching 15 so that they form a very narrow welt 16 inside the covering. This welt may be increased in width at each end to facilitate the formation of soft folds 17, Fig. 1, at the ends of the peak 12. A leather head-band 18 is secured by stitching 19.
