Abstract
769,846. Piles. ALLARD, P J. M. T. June9, 1955 [June 16, 1954], No. 16570/55. Class 68 (2). A pilesinking devicecomprises a driving tube8 which is subjected to an alternating rotarymotion and carries shrouded elements 10 on the outside face for ratchet engagement with detents on a ring 2 fixed to the top of a penetrating sleeve 1 to drive the latter in one direction only, and blocks 16 on the inside face which engage corresponding recesses in segmentalelements 14 fixed to the outside face of a guide tube 6 for a boring tube 7, to impart the alternating motion of the driving tube 8. to the guide tube 6. The penetrating sleeve 1 has an external helical screw portion 3, a lower cutting portion 5, and internal reinforcing rods 4 which are imbedded within the body of the sleeve 1 and are constrained within the annular space 11 between the guide tube 6 and the inner wall of the sleeve 1. During the boring operation lubricating material, e.g. water, may be introduced into the space 12 between the tubes 6 and 8, the screw portion 3 of the sleeve 1 being provided with apertures 13 for the outlet of the lubricant. When the penetrating means has attained the desired level, the central bore is deepened and filled with concrete B, reinforcements 17, provided with rods 18, being let down through the tube 6, which is then removed, so that the reinforcements 4, and 18 interlace. The concreting of the pile is then carried out, the sleeve 1 serving as a base for the pile. Specification 739,471 is referred to.
