Abstract
769,021. Carburetted water gas. NORTH THAMES GAS BOARD. May 26, 1955 [June 18, 1954], No. 18023/54. Class 55 (2). In a process for producing carburetted water gas there is employed in the carburetting oil a catalyst consisting of one or more alkali metal or alkaline earth metal oxides or hydroxides or substances which will produce such oxides or hydroxides during the carburetting, the oil and catalyst being introduced as a mixture into the generator and/or the carburetter of the water gas plant. The catalyst, e.g. line, may be added to the oil as a finely-divided powder or in the form of a dispersion in oil. Alternatively, the catalyst may be derived from an oil-soluble substance, e.g. calcium naphthenate. The proportion of catalyst in the oil should not exceed 1.0 per cent and should preferably be between 0.1 and 0.4 per cent by weight on the weight of oil.
