Abstract
768,053. Gas-blast switches. METROPOLITAN-VICKERS ELECTRICAL CO., Ltd. Jan. 12, 1955 [Jan. 12, 1954], No. 985/55. Class 38(5) A multi-break gas-blast switch has two or more insulating blast distributing tubes diverging from a common gas supply point and having their axes in a common plane, each of the tubes supporting one or more interrupting units each disposed with its axis in the common plane but extending transversely of the axis of the associated blast tube. In Fig. 3 a pair of blast tubes 9, 10 each carrying two interrupting units 1...4 are supported on an insulating support column 13, through which a duct 12 extends. The column 13 is mounted on a reservoir 15 and a blast valve is shown at 14. Voltage distributing impedances 5...8 are connected across the interrupting units. In another arrangement, the tubes 9, 10 diverge from a header carried by a plurality of support columns and supplied with gas by a separate conduit, Fig. 4 (not shown). A series isolating switch may be provided. Fig. 5 (not shown) and two switches may be connected in series and supported on a common reservoir, Fig. 6 (not shown).
