Abstract

767,911. Storing liquefied gases. LORENTZEN. H. L. March 24, 1955 [March 27, 1954], No. 8633/55. Classes 8(2) and 102(2) The temperature of liquefied gas, e.g. butane, stored in a pressure vessel, is maintained low by vaporizing a portion thereof by means of bubbles 11 of a foreign gas of lower boiling point, e.g. nitrogen, introduced into the liquid through nozzles 10 and the gaseous mixture is discharged through a valved outlet 4. The nitrogen gas is forced by a compressor 7 through a purifier and drier 8 prior to entry through the nozzles 10. The butane content of the discharged gas mixture is recovered by refrigeration. Liquid butane is fed to and discharged from the vessel 1 through a pipe 3.
