Abstract
In the production of azoic dyeings on linear polyester textiles by applying a diazotizable aromatic amine and a coupling component comprising a 2:3-hydroxynaphthoic acid derivative of the formula <FORM:0766298/IV(a)/1> wherein X is an amino, alkylamino, dialkylamino, hydroxyalkylamino or hydrazino group or the radical of a saturated nitrogenous ring, and in which the naphthalene nucleus may be substituted by alkyl, hydroxyalkyl or nitro groups or halogen atoms, and then effecting diazotization and coupling on the fibre, the diazotizable amine and/or the coupling component may be incorporated in the spinning solution from which the fibres are spun.ALSO:Azoic dyeings are produced on linear polyester textiles by treating the textile simultaneously or in either sequence with a diazotizable aromatic amine and a derivative of 2 : 3 - hydroxynaphthoic acid of the formula:- <FORM:0766298/IV(b)/1> wherein X is an amino, alkylamino, dialkylamino, hydroxyalkylamino or hydrazino group or the radical of a saturated nitrogenous ring, and in which the naphthalene nucleus may be substituted by alkyl, hydroxyalkyl or nitro groups or halogen atoms, and then treating with aqueous nitrous acid to effect diazotization and coupling on the fibre. Alternatively, the diazotizable amine and/or the coupling component may be incorporated in the spinning solution from which the fibres are spun. Specified coupling components are 2 : 3 - hydroxynaphthoic acid - amide, -diethylamide, - pyrrolidide, - morpholide, - monoethanolamide, - diethanolamide and - hydrazide. Specified diazotizable amines are nitro -, alkoxy - and/or halogen - anilines and - toluidines, 2 - aminoazo - benzene and - toluene, 1 - amino - 4 - benzoylamino - 5 - methoxy - 2 - chlorbenzene, 4 - amino - 41 - methoxy-diphenylamine and 1 - amino - 2 : 5 - dimethoxybenzene. The treatment baths may contain dispersing agents such as formaldehyde - naphthalene sulphonic acid condensation products or polyhydroxylated fatty alcohols or fatty acids and swelling agents such as hydroxydiphenyls, benzoic acid, salicylic acid or chlorbenzene. Preferably coupling is completed by an after-treatment with aqueous sodium acetate or other acid-neutralizer. Examples are given.
