Abstract
765,694. Pitot apparatus. BRISTOL AEROPLANE CO., Ltd. June 9, 1955 [June 14, 1954], No. 17475/54. Class 69 (1). In a Mach-number measuring device, ducts from a cone immersed in an air stream, lead air to two compartments separated by a flexible diaphragm, the movement of which controls an indicator or engine fuel system and also adjusts an orifice in the wall of one compartment so as to prevent hunting and alteration of calibration with altitude. As shown, the core 8 develops a shock-wave as 9 and the diaphragm 4 is positioned, relative to the case 1, by the pressures in ducts 7, 10. Movement of 4 controls the size of orifices 13, 16. Orifice 16 controls the engine fuel regulating device (not shown) corrected at 18.
