764,732. Textile spinning rings, lubricating. MANUFACTURE ALSACIENNE DE BROCHES. March 9, 1955 [March 15, 1954], No. 6970/55. Class 120 (2). A lubricating arrangement for textile spinning rings of the type having holes opening on to the traveller engaging faces and fitted with wicks in lubricant conducting relationship with a lubricant receiving well is characterized in that it comprises a supply wick arranged in an annular groove of the ring and having at least one end thereof dipping into the lubricant well, the holes opening also into said annular groove and containing distributing wicks which extend throughout said holes and have a portion thereof in mutual engagement with the supply wick in said annular groove. In the arrangement shown a spinning ring 1 has an upper bearing face 1a and an inner bearing face 1b against which the traveller bears as it revolves on the ring. The ring 1 is formed with a lubricant receiving well 2 into which a supply wick 3 dips. The wick 3 then encircles the ring 1 in an annular groove 4 and extends to a number of substantially radial holes against the two holes 5 and 6 which open into the bottom of the groove 4 and into the bore of the ring 1. Between each pair of holes 5 and 6 is provided a substantially vertical hole 11 which opens on to the upper bearing face la. Within the holes 11 are arranged distributing wicks 12. In a second embodiment the holes 11 are arranged midway between the consecutive pairs of holes 5 and 6 The supply wick need not directly lubricate the bearing face but may completely surround the ring and contact separate distributing wicks which carry lubricant to the bearing faces. In a third embodiment the invention is applied to a ring having a cylindrical inner bearing face and holes are provided between the groove 4 and the lower portion of the bearing face and also the upper portion of the bearing face. The wicks may have a tubular structure and contain a reinforcing wire.
