Abstract

A coating composition comprises the reaction product of an alkali metal borophosphate solution with a solution of magnesium and/or zinc silico fluoride. It may be applied to fibre reinforced panels having a calcareous matrix. The coating being formed by impregnating firstly with the borosilicate which may be heated then the silicofluoride.ALSO:A hardening coating for fibre reinforced panels with a calcareous matrix comprises the the reaction producer of an alkali metal borophosphate solution and a solution of zinc and/or magnesium silicafluoride. The coating is obtained by a two-stage impregnation of the panels firstly with the borophosphate, which may be heated, and then with the silicafluoride.
