758,703. Regenerators for coke-ovens &c. COMPAGNIE GENERALE DE CONSTRUCTION DE FOURS, and CASSAN, J. H. F. Nov. 4, 1954 [Dec. 21, 1953], No. 32006/54. Class 64(1). In a coke-oven or other furnace regenerator assembly comprising regenerators Rg, Ra, R<SP>1</SP>g, R<SP>1</SP>a each having a brick work casing 1, 1<SP>1</SP> separated from surrounding brickwork 1a, 3 by a space 2, 2<SP>1</SP> which communicates with the combustion chamber p<SP>1</SP> or p<SP>2</SP>, the spaces 2, 21 are fed with cooled flue gases from a separate duct 4 to prevent leakage of combustible gas and air into the spaces around the casings 1<SP>1</SP> of those regenerators R<SP>1</SP>g, R<SP>1</SP>a that are being heated by flue gases, or to convey to the combustion chamber air and combustible gas which may have penetrated through the casings 1. If the leakage openings in the walls 3 separating the regenerator chambers are very small, only the spaces surrounding the regenerators which are being reheated are fed with cooled flue gases. For this purpose, separate ducts controlled by a reversing valve are provided. Specification 716,030 is referred to.
