757,725. Driving-chains. MORSE CHAIN CO. Aug. 31, 1953, No. 24007/53. Class 24. Chordal action in an inside contact inverted tooth driving chain is eliminated by providing each joint pin 30 with a flat bearing surface 32 which rocks on an arcuate bearing surface 34 forming part of the pin-receiving aperture in alternate links 22 so as to provide a progressive elongation of the chain pitch as the chain is bent around a sprocket. The intervening links 221 have apertures 35 in which the pins 30 are fixed. The arcuate bearing surface 34 is inclined with respect to the longitudinal pitch line to prevent reverse bending of the chain, which is further prevented by providing certain of the links with abutting portions 50 and 51. The teeth of the chain and sprocket are generated for conjugate relationship, one or the other being involute.
