Abstract
757,671. Reservoir pens. SOC. I.A.R.S.A. Sept. 10, 1954 [April 20, 1954], No. 26284/54. Class 146(3) A retractable ball-point pen is actuated by a reciprocatory push - button movable axially against a spring and carrying a projection which co-operates with two opposed rings of teeth mounted co-axially with the reciprocatory member. As shown, a cap 15 has an upper ring 16 of four teeth and four spaces, two of which spaces 17 are deep and the other two 18 are shallower. A ring of teeth 19 is opposed to the ring 16 but positioned such that the teeth of the two rings are circumferentially offset. The spaces between the teeth receive pins 20 and 21 attached to a ring 22 rotatable on a plunger 23 engaging the rear end of a ball-point pen. The plunger 23 is inserted into a hole 24 in in a plunger 25. The plunger 25 has a longitudinal slot 25<SP>1</SP> engaging a projection 26<SP>1</SP>. When the plunger 25 is depressed the pins 20 and 21 are rotated by teeth of the ring 19, such that when the plunger is released the pins 20 and 21 re-engage the teeth of the ring 16 which holds the pen in writing position when the pins engage the spaces 18 and in retracted position when the pins engage the spaces 17.
