Abstract
1,138,258. Retractable ball-point pens. K. VETTER [trading as KARL VETTER K.G.]. 12 July, 1967 [24 Feb., 1967], No. 32028/67. Heading B6P. The plunger or push-button 7 of a rear push-button actuated retractable ball-point pen is provided with upper and lower annular cam sets, the upper set having teeth of alternately varying length, the difference in length defining the projected and retracted positions of the pen. The cam sets co-operate respectively with diametrically opposed upper stops 15<SP>1</SP>, 15<SP>11</SP> and lower stops 16<SP>1</SP>, 16<SP>11</SP>. The stops may be formed as projections on the inside surface of the barrel 1, or may be formed as a pair of spaced annular bodies joined by two webs (Figs. 3 to 5), which construction 10 is rotatable but not movable axially in the barrel 1. Slots (19 and 20) together with outwardly directed funnel-shaped projections 22 and 21 at either end of the construction 10, facilitate the mounting of the construction 10 on the button 7. The lower cam set may have teeth of varying depths to make the button reversible.
