Abstract
755,380. Cupola furnaces. STRIKFELDT, W. S. Aug. 3, 1954 [Aug. 3, 1953 ; Nov. 7, 1953], No. 22501/54. Class 51(1). [Also in Group XXVIII] Hot waste oxygen-free gas from a cupola 1 is freed of solid particles by a bed 6 of coke or ceramic material which is discharged after use into a vessel 12 and replenished from a storage reservoir 11. Residual combustible gas is burned in a chamber 4 and the heat content of the gas is used to warm an exchanger 8 through which air is supplied to the furnace 1. The coal waste gas is discharged by a fan 9 to atmosphere.
