Abstract
754,886. Shaft couplings. WALTER- iSCHEID. J. WALTERSCHEID, [nee BUCHHOLZ]. G., MULLER, B. WALTERSCHEID-, ORTHEN E., and SCHROTER, K., [trading as WALTERSCHEID, J.]. June 29, 1954 [June 29, 1953], No. 19040/54. Class 80(2) A shaft 11 in splined engagement with a tubular member 1 is locked against axial movement therein by an internally-splined ring 2 which is located axially in the tube 1 by a stepped bush 5 secured in the tube and which co-operates with an annular groove 10 on the shaft 11 and is capable of limited rotary movement in the tube determined by a radial pin 3 secured on the ring 2 and extending through a circumferential 'slot 6 in the tube 1 to an external ring 9 to which it is secured. A coil spring 4 has one end engaging apertures in the ring 2 and pin 3 while the other end engages an aperture in the bush 5. The spring normally holds the ring 2 in locking position, with its splines aligned with the shaft splines, but the ring 9 can be rotated so as to turn the ring 2 to align its splines with the splines in the tube 1, so as to permit removal of the shaft.
