The side members A, B of a non-pivoted X-frame chair are connected by rigid panels C, D forming the seat and back rest, the parts being held in erected position by a rear cross bar F connected to the back frame members and a front cross bar E secured by straps G to the top ends of the back frame. Optional extensions C<SP>1</SP>, D<SP>1</SP> of the panels serve as leg and head rests respectively.
