Abstract

753,161. Drying apparatus. ORTH, H. and HAAG, E. March 22, 1954 [March 21, 1953], No. 8355/54. Class 34(2). In drying apparatus in which the material to be dried is carried by a conveyer belt 2 through a chamber 1 sub-divided into individual chambers B and air is supplied by a fan 3 through a heat exchanger 4 to pass through the material at right angles to its direction of travel the conveyer belt lies on a nozzle plate through which the air passes and which has means to regulate the speed of the air passing therethrough. Two perforated plates 5, 6 are slidable relative to each other to regulate the free opening. In a modification, Fig. 3, the apparatus has a preheating zone, a drying zone and a cooling zone with nozzle plates 32, 33, 34 respectively, cold air being supplied by separate fans 317 and the zones being separated by partitions 310, 311. The layer depth of the material may be regulated by means of a slide 37. Specification 737,720 is referred to.
